Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Lexora.
Lexora tracks every word you encounter as you read, classifying each into one of three tiers (mastered, familiar, or emerging). When you paste new text, the AI rewrites it using only words from your mastered and familiar tiers — at least 95% of content words come from vocabulary you already know. CEFR-level grammar tuning sits on top as an optional dial for sentence complexity, but the vocabulary itself is personalized to you, not pulled from a generic frequency list.
Lexora currently supports six languages: Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Russian. We're actively working on adding more languages — stay tuned for updates.
Yes! Lexora offers a free plan that includes daily credits for text simplification, vocabulary tracking, and spaced repetition review. You can upgrade anytime for more credits and additional features.
Spaced repetition is a scientifically-proven learning technique that schedules vocabulary reviews at optimal intervals. Lexora uses the FSRS algorithm to show you words just before you'd forget them, maximizing long-term retention with minimal study time.
Absolutely. You can paste any text in your target language — news articles, blog posts, book excerpts, emails, or even YouTube transcripts. Lexora simplifies whatever you give it to match the words you already know.
CEFR (A1–C2) is a six-level standard for language proficiency — a useful estimate of where a learner sits overall, but bucket-rough. Two B1 learners can have completely different vocabularies: one might know cooking words but not finance words; the other vice-versa. Lexora doesn't read text "at B1" — it reads text using the specific words you already know, which the system tracks automatically. CEFR is still a useful dial in Lexora: it tunes grammar complexity (sentence length, allowable tenses, idioms). But the vocabulary in your simplified text comes from your vocabulary, not from a CEFR frequency list. CEFR controls how sentences are structured. Your tracked vocabulary controls which words get used.
Each simplification request costs money on our end. We have set the daily limits for each tier to ensure profitability.
We want to encourage users to engage with the culture of their target language, reading the same news, books, speeches, etc. that native speakers consume. Our software just brings that content to a level that is more manageable for you.
